Doris Doodle

Doris was drawn in 1941 as a graduation test at Chouinard at institute for an animation called “Doris Walks About.” Shortly after, she was one of a few animated characters allowed to roam free as an unlicensed toon. On her own she sought more work in entertainment and eventually landed a role as the ad girl on the King Cartoon show around 1945. Her appearance gained a lot of viewers and Doris was soon seen in ads outside of the King Cartoon show such has the Jack Rabbit Cigarettes campaign. Her stardom rose fast, but soon vanished as her appearance on King Cartoon and magazine ads came to a sudden halt. Doris was forgotten after she seemingly walked away from the spotlight. She would come back into the public eye after a clip of her at Perfect Purchase in Burbank went viral in the 2020’s.
